Ihsaan (“Ihsaan,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is an iOS app published by Amina El-Amin that helps you track your prayers and other acts of worship. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

- We collect only what we need to run Ihsaan and sync your data.
- Your worship entries and reflection notes are private to your account.
- We never sell your personal information or use it for advertising.

1. Information we collect
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address. If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple shares your email address (or a private relay address if you choose Hide My Email) and, if you allow it, your name. If you sign up with email, your password is handled by our authentication provider and is never stored by us in readable form.
Worship and habit data. The information you enter in the app, including prayer logs and their status, Sunnah and night prayers, Quran reading or listening time and pages, dhikr counts, fasting records, custom habits, streaks, reflection notes, and app settings such as your reminder preferences.
Location. Ihsaan uses your location to calculate prayer times. This calculation happens on your device, and your location is not sent to our servers. Ihsaan does not track your location in the background.
Technical information. When the app connects to our service providers, they may automatically process basic technical information such as your IP address, device type, operating system version, and app version. This is used to deliver the service, keep it secure, and fix problems.

Reminders. Reminders are scheduled locally on your iPhone using iOS notifications. They don’t require us to send your data anywhere, and you can turn them off at any time in the app or in your iPhone’s Settings.
3. Your worship data is treated as sensitive
Information about your prayers, fasting, and other acts of worship may reveal your religious beliefs, so we treat all of it as sensitive. We use it only to provide Ihsaan to you. We don’t analyze it for any other purpose, and we don’t read your reflection notes unless you ask us to help with a support issue or the law requires it.
If we introduce features that use your data in a new way — for example, AI-generated reflections or insights — we’ll update this policy and ask for your consent first where required.
4. What we don’t do
- We don’t sell or rent your personal information.
- We don’t share your information with advertisers or use it for targeted ads.
- We don’t track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
5. Service providers
We rely on a small number of trusted providers to run Ihsaan. They process data on our behalf, only as needed to provide their services.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or others. If Ihsaan is ever transferred to a new owner, your information may be transferred as part of that, and this policy will continue to apply to it.
6. How we store and protect your data
Your data is stored with Google Cloud Firestore and is encrypted in transit and at rest. Our security rules allow each account to read and write only its own data, and our own access is limited to what’s needed to support you and maintain the service. No system is completely secure, but we work hard to protect your information.
7. How long we keep your data
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your account information and worship data are deleted from our systems within 30 days, unless the law requires us to keep certain information longer.
8. Your choices and rights
- Access and correct: view and edit your entries in the app at any time.
- Delete: delete your account and data from Settings in the app, or email us.
- Get a copy: email us to request a copy of your data.
- Notifications and location: turn these off at any time in your iPhone’s Settings.
Depending on where you live — for example, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or California — you may have additional rights, including the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a portable copy of your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email us. We won’t treat you differently for doing so.
Users in the EEA and UK. We process your information to provide the service you asked for, for our legitimate interest in keeping Ihsaan secure and working, and to meet legal obligations. Where your data may reveal your religious beliefs, we process it based on your explicit consent, which you give by choosing to record it. You can withdraw that consent at any time by deleting the data or your account. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
California residents. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law.
9. Children
Ihsaan is not intended for children under 13, or under the minimum age required where you live, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we’ll delete it.
10. International users
Your information may be stored and processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the effective date above. If the changes are significant, we’ll let you know in the app or by other appropriate means.
